Do I Have a Refrigerant Leak?

Monday, July 24th, 2017

man-with-fanThe quick answer to the question posed in the title of this blog is: hopefully not. Unfortunately, there is no way in which to guarantee that you will never run into a refrigerant leak with your home cooling system. Because this can be one of the most serious, most potentially damaging problems that you could encounter with your air conditioning system, it is important that you have it resolved promptly. We have some tips to help you recognize the signs of a refrigerant leak.

It is important to remember that your air conditioner does not actually consume refrigerant in the way that a car consumes gasoline. Refrigerant is instead cycled through the system over and over again, and its evaporation in the evaporator coil — and condensing in the condenser coil — is what allows for the cooling process in the first place. If your system is low on refrigerant, you have a leak in your air conditioner in Summerlin, NV.

Why Is There Ice on My AC?

Monday, July 10th, 2017

AC-technician-at-workWhen the heat of summer is at its worst around here, and that is really saying something, you want your AC to be firing on all cylinders. In fact, you want your AC cooling your home so effectively that you may think that seeing ice develop on it is a good thing. After all, if the system is able to generate ice even when it is this hot out, it must really be cranking, right? Well, that may be true of an ice maker or a freezer, but your air conditioner in Paradise, NV is neither of these.

The fact of the matter is that, deceivingly, ice on your air conditioning system is a bad thing. Heat pumps are actually expected to ice up from time to time, and they have a defrost cycle to overcome the issue. A traditional split central AC should never develop ice, though. If you notice that your air conditioner is freezing up, there are a few things that you can check on your own. However, it could also be a sign of serious trouble, so contact us if you don’t see an obvious solution.

The Heat Is On – Is Your Air Conditioner Off?

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

Hopefully not! Unfortunately, this summer season seems to be a bit more extreme than most, and that is leaving many homeowners dealing with broken down ACs done in by the heat. In a summer so hot that the county has opened cooling stations to help protect those without AC or those unprepared for the heat, this is obviously a serious problem. In fact, Goettl Air Conditioning is looking to hire new, qualified technicians just to keep up with the demand!

With temperatures well over 100˚ regularly, we really want to remind homeowners just how vital it is that they schedule routine heating maintenance. There is just no better way to not only keep your air conditioner in great working condition, but also to catch problems early on. As you can see in this video, our business these days is just one broken AC after another. Don’t let yours be the next on our call list!

Goettl: Going Above and Beyond in Our Community

Tuesday, July 4th, 2017

One of the most rewarding parts of owning and operating a local business is the way in which that business allows one to engage with his or her community. At Goettl Air Conditioning, our clients are not just faces that grant us access to their homes. They are our neighbors, and we believe that neighbors should look out for one another.

Now, we don’t really like to toot our own horn around here – but when Fox 5 decided to give us some attention for going “above and beyond to help a widow stranded in the heat” with our “great customer service,” we decided to share that news with you. Watch the video here to learn about how we were able to help Geraldine out of a tight situation. When the weather gets so hot that it’s dangerous, you want our technicians in your corner.

Goettl: There for Our Customers

Monday, July 3rd, 2017

As incredibly hot as this summer has been – and is continuing to be – a problem with one’s air conditioner is no laughing matter. Now imagine that you’ve not only encountered a problem with your air conditioning system, but that your 15 year old air conditioner has broken down entirely, and that replacement is your only option.

This is exactly the situation that a 75 year old resident found herself in just recently, and it is one that Goettl Air Conditioning helped Geraldine to resolve. Geraldine recently lost her husband of 16 years, and a full air conditioning replacement was not something that she was prepared for. We always are, though, which is why we donated the entire system and installed it for her ASAP. We believe in looking after our neighbors, especially during this time of the year when the heat of summer can be a legitimate threat to one’s safety.
